A friend of mine approached me a few years ago for feedback on a mobile app concept. The idea was to be able to post motorcycle rides as pins on a map, scroll around the map to view other rides/events, and to see other app users on the map in real time. After giving a few suggestions as a fellow motorcyclist I agreed to assist in drafting a logo concept.
With a rough idea of what he wanted for the logo I started with his concept of two connected chain links and built a few other options. Once we narrowed the ideas down I continued with color options.
Software used: Adobe Illustrator for logo design and logo usage mock-ups
Next I drafted up examples of how the logo would look in use including a couple phone screens of the app. This led to developing a collection of nearly forty phone screens to create a “working” version of the app to take to developers.
Software used: Adobe InDesign for phone screens, Adobe Illustrator for icons and buttons, Adobe Photoshop for photo touch up
While the actual look of the app changed a lot throughout development, laying out all the functions was a huge time saver when it came to pitching the idea and working out the details of free & paid features.
Work continues on various other promotional projects including handlebar hangers, t-shirts, social media branding & ads, and flyers to pitch partnerships with local businesses.
